Privacy Policy

When you use Jestha, we may collect:

• Account information -- your name, username, email address, optional phone number, and profile details such as avatar, cover image, bio, and pronouns that you choose to provide
• Authentication data -- password hashes (we never see your raw password) and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account email, name, profile picture URL, and Google user ID. We request only the minimum scopes needed to identify you
• Content you create -- Jes posts, comments, polls, stories, Jesclips, direct messages, media uploads (photos and videos), and interactions such as likes, bounces, and saves
• Camera and photo library access (mobile app only) -- with your explicit permission, the app accesses your device camera to capture photos for posts and stories, and your photo library to upload existing media. Captured and selected media is uploaded to our servers only when you submit a post; it is not silently transmitted
• Push notification tokens (mobile app only) -- if you enable notifications, we store the device push token issued by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver alerts. The token is a per-install device identifier, not a persistent user identifier outside Jestha
• Usage data -- pages visited, posts viewed, features used, search queries, and interaction patterns. We use this to rank your feed, surface recommendations, and improve the Platform
• Device information -- browser type, operating system, app version, and general location derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location. The optional "location" field on your profile is free-text that you type yourself

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform
• Personalize your experience, including your feed, search results, and recommendations
• Communicate with you about your account, updates, security, and content you interact with (via email and push notifications)
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and security threats
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information to train third-party machine-learning models, and we do not display third-party advertising inside the app.

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with the following categories of service providers, under contracts that bind them to confidentiality and the use of your data only to perform services for us:

• Hosting and infrastructure -- cloud providers that store account data, posts, and uploaded media
• Email delivery -- transactional email providers used to send verification codes, password resets, and account notifications
• Push notification services -- Apple Push Notification service (iOS) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) deliver push notifications. Notification metadata such as the post ID a notification refers to is sent through these services
• Google Sign-In -- if you sign in with Google, Google receives a sign-in event and we receive your basic profile information described in Section 1
• Tenor (GIF search) -- when you search for GIFs in the composer, your search query is sent to Tenor (a Google-owned service) so it can return matching GIFs. Tenor's privacy practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy

We retain your information for as long as your account is active.

Deleting your account -- you can delete your Jestha account at any time:

• In the mobile app: Profile → Settings → Delete account
• On the web: visit jestha.com/delete-account for instructions, or email [email protected] from the address on your account

Once requested, your account enters a 30-day grace period during which you can recover it by contacting us. After 30 days your account and personal data are permanently deleted. We may retain anonymized usage logs and records required by law (for example, fraud-prevention or tax records) after that date.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for camera, photo library, or push notification access at any time through your device settings
